Now that we have presented our values and intentions, let’s talk about what we are building and what to expect in the coming months as we gradually develop the roadmap alongside with our community of shuken buidlers!
As mentioned, it is no longer enough to have control of your own private keys, and that is why in Shuken everything we build will start by default with your own node.
We also understand that 100% sovereignty is hard and that some trust in third parties is somewhat necessary, but our open source nature will make it easier for those who are on the “do not trust, verify” side of things.
The bitcoin industry is evolving very fast and there are many areas to focus on, from payments to scalability, security, privacy, usability, etc. However none of that is really possible unless users really understand the importance of running their own trustworthy node. Shuken is not just another node operator, but a partner to help you run it in a sovereign manner along with the rest of things you will be able to do once you have one. Having a node is like having an email address back in the days when the internet started. It must be simple, secure and resilient but most importantly a node that you control and feel comfortable with. Eventually the node will be almost invisible where the focus will shift to the things you can do with it.
We are starting with our community launch first, before we release our pro and enterprise plans because it is in our mission to always give a service to the community for free.
We will be releasing and developing products throughout 2023, but now we are simply starting with our first product: Basic Shuken Explorer and free personal (not shared) bitcoin node. For now it is only a cloud version, but we will soon be launching our free self hosted node option for those noderunners that like having hardware next to them.
In summary you can now:
- Launch the Shuken console to spin up a node
- Get the config details so that you can use it to connect to your wallet
- Make use of our Basic Shuken Explorer, and have a feel of what is to be part of the Shuken Network (more on this in coming updates)
- Have a chance to be selected as a lucky one who will have the privilege to try our Pro plan(paid one) once we launch in the coming weeks.
- Feel the Shuken console/dashboard which we envision to be a key place to be in the bitcoin era, as we develop new integrations and functionalities.
We have been working hard last few months on our first own product (Shuken Indexer/Explorer), so what we are launching now, it is just a glimpse of what is to come, as it will be the backbone of many of the things we have ready in our roadmap
We are still very early and it is very much similar to the days the payments/ecommerce industry started, with not many solutions, all very fragmented and not very user friendly. I still remember how hard it was to manage payments for an ecommerce store a few years ago, or how reluctant a user was to pay online with a credit card not so long ago. In the Bitcoin era everything is moving faster and the specialization in roles and tools will not not take that time, but there is still tons of fragmentation and can be overwhelming the amount of things you need to learn or do to manage/process bitcoin.
That is also why we are here, and also understand that everyone has different needs (use cases), so stay tuned as we develop/launch those that you need. In the meantime:
